Grosvenor Tenants Association Community App

Plain English Summary: This is a private community app for tenants of 82-77 116th Street. We collect basic info to verify you live here. Your neighbors can see your name and apartment; sharing contact info is optional. Messages aren't encrypted like Signal—treat this like a building bulletin board, not a secret diary.

Terms of Service

1. What This App Is

The Grosvenor Community App is a private communication platform for verified tenants of 82-77 116th Street, Richmond Hill, NY 11418. It is operated by the Grosvenor Tenants Association, a volunteer organization of building residents.

2. Who Can Use It

You must be a current tenant or authorized occupant of an apartment in our building
All accounts require administrator approval before access is granted
You must provide accurate information about your identity and apartment number
One account per person (not per apartment)

3. Acceptable Use

This app is for building-related communication: announcements, neighbor exchanges, event planning, and community building. You agree to:

Be respectful and civil to your neighbors
Not post illegal, harassing, discriminatory, or threatening content
Not use the app for commercial advertising or spam
Not share other tenants' information outside the building community
Not attempt to access other users' accounts or private messages

4. Content You Post

You are responsible for what you post. The Tenants Association may remove content that violates these terms. Content you post (chat messages, bulletin posts) may remain visible even after you deactivate your account, attributed to "Former Tenant."

5. Account Deactivation

You may deactivate your own account at any time through Settings
Administrators may deactivate accounts for violations or when tenants move out
Deactivated accounts cannot log in but message history is preserved

6. No Warranty

This app is provided by volunteers "as is." We do our best to keep it running, but we can't guarantee uptime, and we're not responsible for any issues that arise from using it.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you sign up, we collect:

Required: Full name, apartment number, email address, password
Optional: Phone number

When you use the app, we store:

Chat messages, bulletin posts, and direct messages you send
Timestamps of your activity
Your privacy preferences

2. Who Can See Your Information

Name & Apartment	All approved tenants (always visible)
Email & Phone	Only if you opt in to share contact info
Chat & Bulletin Posts	All approved tenants
Direct Messages	Only you and the recipient

3. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored on Supabase, a cloud database service. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). While Supabase encrypts data at rest, this is not an end-to-end encrypted messaging platform.

Important: This app provides reasonable privacy but is not designed for highly sensitive communications. Treat it like a building bulletin board or group email—appropriate for community discussion, not confidential matters.

4. Who Has Access to Data

Administrators: Can see all public content and user accounts (not private messages)
Supabase: Our hosting provider has technical access to the database
Law Enforcement: We will comply with valid legal requests (subpoenas, court orders)

5. Data Retention

Active accounts: Data retained while you're a tenant
Deactivated accounts: Profile removed from directory; messages attributed to "Former Tenant"
We do not currently have an automatic deletion schedule

6. Your Rights

You can:

Update your profile information at any time
Change your privacy settings (contact info sharing)
Deactivate your account
Request a copy of your data by contacting the administrator

7. Children's Privacy

This app is intended for adult tenants. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact the administrator.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update these terms occasionally. Significant changes will be announced through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
